Post Crescent: Can you make a bandage from carbon? Oshkosh entrepreneur eyeing production in Neenah

It’s easy to miss this nondescript industrial facility in Neenah unless you know exactly where to look. Yet inside, a small life science startup is quietly at work.

The two units at 7261 Commerce Plaza Drive are packed with microscopes, work benches, and computers. On a wooden table, several sterile medical dressing samples with various shapes and sizes are lined up. One package is labeled “Phoenix-Aid Protect”.

Ashwinraj Karthikeyan, 28, is the founder and owner of Phoenix-Aid.

In early June, with confidence and rapid-fire delivery, Karthikeyan pitched to more than 40 judges at the annual Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest in Madison, presenting his self-applicable dressing for chronic wounds aimed at serving underserved populations in both India and the U.S.
