28 Jan In Business Magazine: BPC sees increased interest from women entrepreneurs; entry deadline approaching
More women are taking steps to become entrepreneurs, and that interest has been reflected in the Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest in recent years.
Thirty percent of the entries over the past nine years have come from women. During that same period, 155 of the contest’s roughly 556 semifinalists and 86 of about 247 finalists were women.
The contest is designed to help entrepreneurs write business plans, prepare them to launch a company, provide feedback from mentors, and foster interaction with investors and other professionals. Past finalists have created companies that have attracted more than $320 million in grants, loans, and private equity financing.
